Matic Vošnjak

As the architect of Competo’s success story, Matic is always, one way or another, involved in every project of the firm – but he is also first past the post when it comes to causing mischief. Matic is in charge of the company’s strategic management, our partners’ business development, sales, and guiding the team towards pursuing ambitious goals. He also runs executive management selection projects. He began his career at the GetWork project, continued as a manager of the Novelus institution, until 2007 when he was employed by an international human resources agency first as an advisor for senior management recruitment and then as a manager of executive position recruitment and selection. Matic has learnt from experience that business is all about people, though it may be cliché to say this. He uses his active listening skills, interpretation abilities, and a solution focused approach to successfully guide his team and to maintain good business relations. When his lively mind needs some rest, Matic takes some time to play beach volleyball, tennis, or goes for a run in order to redirect his thoughts from ‘aims and collaboration’ to an ‘inhale, exhale’ mindset. Works like a charm in reducing stress.

Laura Smrekar

Can you hear the fast clicking of high heels? Here comes Laura, who is in charge of marketing, PR, and leads projects with great passion and energy. As a graduate of Sinology, Laura started her career in an international employment agency, where she fell in love with human resources management. Her focus on people, perseverance, targeted orientation, and optimism are why Laura always does an excellent job. She enjoys sports and never runs out of motivation, loves cookery and great food, especially after a workout, but is happiest in the company of family and her four-legged friends. Despite several spilled cups of coffee and our hurried missions to save Laura’s documents, we cherish those stains as mementos of her whimsical office adventures.

Tina Novak Kač

Many would roll their eyes at the sight of her busy and varied timetable, but Tina, Head of Sales, only smiles back. Attending meetings, meeting new people, and hearing interesting business stories make up the fabric of her ideal working day. Although she has a Master’s in Communication, she directed her career to sales – first at a business media agency and later at one of the biggest Slovene media magnates. Her career path led her all the way to South Africa, until she joined the Competo team in 2015. As a persistent and goal-orientated optimist, Tina believes in the goodness of people and knows that the right team will complete even the most challenging of projects. Tina makes sure that both her work and leisure timetables are ‘blazing’, as she spends her free time doing hot yoga, running with her hair blowing in the wind and sailing the seas.

Blaž Bejek

When niche expertise in engineering, chemistry, logistics, and other scientific areas is required, Blaž saves the day. As an engineer in the textile industry, a graduate of Economics, and a former manager of production, Blaž is in full charge of Competo’s Search and Selection services as well as of managing projects for specific technical/managerial and professional positions. What guarantees satisfaction to both his clients and his candidates are Blaž’s attention to detail, integrity, and timely manner, alongside his experience of managing a group of people in the production process. Working with him brings pleasure to all but especially to his colleagues, who chuckle or even burst out laughing at his witty remarks. Blaž spends his spare time playing the guitar, working outdoors, and riding his motorcycle on Slovenia’s beautiful and winding roads.

Jasna Benko Živec

Competo’s members often discuss doctors and medication with Jasna, luckily not because of any illnesses in the team, but because of Jasna’s focus on pharmaceutical and medical projects. Sometimes we joke that she is more persistent and tenacious than a virus, because Jasna’s stubbornness, resourcefulness, and optimism give rise to satisfied clients and candidates, who often seek her advice even after the project was completed. Jasna began her career in an international HR agency as an undergraduate student of HR and after completing her course she took on the challenge of joining Competo’s founding team. Her hobbies and coffee dates have recently been replaced by cooing talks and games, because Jasna spends most of her free time with the newest addition to the family.

Nataša Tovornik

Seneca’s quote above is what inspires Nataša’s work. She assists our partners in establishing HR processes, recruiting suitable colleagues, and implementing methods of collaboration that facilitate the achievement of strategic objectives. She has a degree in Economics, but extended her knowledge at the University of St. Gallen and University of Vienna. She gained hands-on experience as an assistant, conducting audits in the Ernst & Young branch in Zurich. After she had returned to Slovenia, she first started working in IT advisory services and was later employed by Sparkasse Bank as a manager of HR services and retail banking. In 2010, Nataša launched her career as an independent consultant and coach, collaborating with Competo as senior consultant at senior management recruitment and HR consultancy services.

Miha Novak

When it comes to recruitment and selection of the best candidates for positions in the electric power industry, energetics, and IT technologies, we always turn to Miha, who graduated in Electrical Engineering. He gained rich experience in designing and managing process automation systems and running projects to provide specialised solutions in efficient energy use. This allows Miha to apply his professional expertise in the process of selection and creating a perfect fit between the candidate and the employer. Miha soon assumed the role of technical director for these areas. As part of his independent business career, Miha cooperated in international engineering projects, working on construction of electrical substations and power lines. Despite the fact that we sometimes exchange puzzled and anxious glances, when his interviews last a long time, we always calm down in the end, knowing that another successful collaboration will take place.

Nina Ivančič

When Nina knocks on our doors, we either have to participate in a psychological evaluation questionnaire that she is currently developing or play a game of table tennis that we will most certainly lose. We analyse all the results of the psychological evaluations of our candidates using Nina’s professional psychological screens. These enable us to select the best co-workers for our clients, based not only on their education and employment history, but also on their skills, competencies, and personality traits. Her curiosity and audacity inspire Nina’s work, but when we add her passion for understanding people and their nature to the equation, we get meticulous and carefully outlined psychological analyses. Her love for research expands past the office door; Nina spends her spare time reading, working out, and developing her creative ideas. She is currently working on a 3D animated cartoon, for which she wrote the story and the screenplay. Yes, she still watches cartoons!

Katja Bedenik

Because she specialises in multitasking, Katja is in charge of both project management and sales in Competo. She started gaining her experiences by managing an office as an administration secretary, working as part of an HR agency for executive management recruitment, until she joined Competo. Katja is friendly, communicative, and always determined to make her clients happy. She is often chased away from the office at the need of her golden retriever, who waits for Katja at home and brings her joy and pleasure, but also elicits so much happiness whenever she visits our office.

Klara Zavrl

Leading a team of recruitment specialists, Klara is responsible for coordination, guidance, and equipping researchers with relevant expertise and experiences in order to search for suitable candidates in a variety of fields. She also runs corporate social responsibility projects and collaborates with Slovene’s faculties. Klara always makes sure that we are up-to-date with the newest professional trends and solutions. She never runs out of ideas for trying new hobbies, but her favourite pastimes include relaxing in the nature or at home, surrounded by a growing number of houseplants.

Tina Štrus

Tina is in charge of projects that require professional and specialist candidates. Because she graduated in South Slavic studies (and Spanish language and literature), Tina often manages communication and interviews for our partners who require co-workers from the Adriatic region. She embarked on her career path as a researcher for Competo. She gained her first human resources experiences as an HR assistant at an international company. Her extensive knowledge of languages comes in handy for our translation or similar projects. Tina prefers to spend her free time outdoors with her friends, either walking or horse-riding – on real horses and not a carousel!

Ana Gabršček

Ana integrates her knowledge of human resources management, marketing communication, and public relations, which she has acquired during her studies, into brilliant communication and HR ideas. She is an active member of various associations. Previously, Ana gained experience as a journalist, as head of PR services for a variety of projects, and as an assistant in designing communication schemes for the world of science. While at work, Ana swears by her resourcefulness, flexibility, and curiosity.  Come rain or shine, you will always see Ana running errands or following a longer route on foot.

Jana Jereb

As the director of HR consultancy, Jana provides clients with a clear overview of the current state of a company’s workforce, and then uses her extensive expertise and experience of business consulting and HR management to formulate a plan for a better future of work. She completed an undergraduate degree at the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana, furthered her knowledge with a master’s at the Bocconi University, a PhD at the Ljubljana’s Faculty of Economics, and an additional undergraduate course at Harvard Business School. She is a certified consulting psychologist, who is currently being educated in the field of family business consulting. Jana spent several years working as a business advisor, then embarked on a career in human resources by managing HR services in a FMCG company for the Adriatic region until she started working in HR consulting. We all know that it is Jana who is arriving to the office in the morning, not just by the clicking of her high heels or her melodic Littoral dialect, but also from the delicious smell of her freshly baked bread.

Maša Budnar Radilović

When entering Competo offices, the first »hello« and a friendly smile surely comes from Maša, our Office Manager. Maša makes sure that everyone (including candidates, clients and Competo team) feels welcome and at home at Livarska 12. She strives for excellence, efficiency and timeliness and is known for staying calm and focused even in most stressful situations. We are very proud of her Event Management super powers: she co-authored an Event Management manual (Event from A to Z), was one of the finalists of Best Event Award competition and regularly shares her knowledge on international conferences. Thanks to her two young ones, her free time is soaked with Legos, reading books and playing hide-and-seek. She enjoys spending time with her husband, hanging out with friends and traveling. Even though she can rarely be seen wearing trousers in the office, she definitely puts them on when it comes to managing stresful situations and we are more than thankful for that!

Blaž Svete

Blaž is a masters student at Faculty of Administration, University of Ljubljana. His area of interest spans from informatics to civil law and human resource management. In addition to his studies, he also took part in many conferences and events in the field of IT in public administration. Long distance running and cycling taught him how to keep going even when the goal seems unreachable. He finds his peace in the nature and while creating wooden furniture (master)pieces. Blaž’s perfect day necesarily includes learning something new and filling his lungs with fresh mountain air.

Barbara Bungič

When you enter Competo’s offices, Barbara, our talent recruiter, will be one of the first to great you and give you an encouraging smile. It was her upskilling at HR conferences that inspired Barbara, a law graduate, to work in HR and join Competo’s forces. Barbara takes advantage of the quiet moments in the office by researching the employment market with great detail. She will not rest until she finds an exquisite group of candidates for our clients. She devotes all her spare time to reading, baking, and hanging around with friends, but if she gets the chance, she will escape to the seaside.

Taja Moro

Taja will soon be completing an HR management course, but is already a member of our specialist team for talent recruitment. She has a strong dislike for unfinished business and perseveres until everything is organised as it should be. What helps her research and recruit the best candidates for our clients is her analytical approach to different situations and people. Taja acquired invaluable communication skills while working in a neurology clinic and in the tourism industry, which she still monitors with interest, provided her work, studies, and taking care of her four-legged friends leave her some spare time. As a matter of fact, Taja is the only Siberian cat breeder in Slovenia and is Chair of Ljubljana’s Feline Breeder’s Club, which regularly shows off their kitties at international cat shows.

Zala Hovnik

As the newest member of Competo’s specialist team for talent recruitment, Zala also prides herself on many talents. She has learnt how to communicate with different generations of people during her studies in Social Work, her placements working with the elderly, and her voluntary work at a care home in Ljubljana. Previously, Zala was employed as an independent business owner, working under pressure in a variety of sectors. Her dialect from the Carinthia region added the missing piece to the diversity of Competo’s team. Her friends say she can be critical of others, but is mostly hard on herself. She likes travelling, attending concerts, and adores going to the seaside every summer, where she enjoys the sun and indulges in reading books.

Blue

Chief Energy Officer

Blue became a Competo team member in August 2017. He is very lively, temperamental, entertaining, but also very kind, bright, brave, and extremely self-confident. He loves being outdoors on long walks and playing with his other four-legged friends. Despite his small size, Blue has got the nature of a large dog and is not easily scared. His charm and playfulness make Competo’s team and our visitors happy. From time to time, he gets into mischief and then makes our day. Blue is our source of energy, laughter, and good company.

I often observe that companies are not flexible at all when hiring: they want a very specific candidate according to education and professional experience. Focusing only on that they forget, that people are very complex and that these are not the only factors affecting work. I believe motivation, values and learning ambitions do not get enough attention even though these factors are very often the reason of dissatisfaction.
